Oscar Cohen Basketball Classic & Recognition Ceremony
The Lexington community came together on April 30th to honor Oscar Cohen, former CEO/superintendent, for his many years of service to the school and the Lexington agencies.
The celebration kicked off with a VIP reception in the school library with alumni, board members, faculty, and former faculty sharing inspirational stories from Dr. Cohen's tenure. Afterwards, the entire school convened to the gym for a recognition ceremony. Following a performance by The Deaf Music Ensemble, remarks were delivered by Interim CEO/Superintendent Seth Bravin, student council representative Mamadou Balde, Board Co-President Dr. Kim Kurz, and alumna/former board member Claudia Gordon, Esq. Jane Moran, Special Assistant to the CEO/Superintendent, introduced the establishment of the Oscar Cohen Endowed Fund for Faculty Excellence.
Members of the boys and girls basketball teams presented Dr. Cohen with a special basketball and invited him to toss the ball for the opening tip-off of a student versus faculty/staff basketball game. Following the game, the entire school lined up along the gym hallway to cheer Dr. Cohen as he walked to the main lobby for the unveiling of a plaque in his honor.
