"Deaf President NOW!" Screening at Lexington

Lexington students were thrilled to meet Nyle DiMarco last Friday during a special early screening of the Apple Original Films documentary "Deaf President NOW!". The documentary was co-directed by Mr. DiMarco and Academy Award-winning filmmaker Davis Guggenheim.
Middle and high school students participated in a Q & A with Mr. DiMarco after the screening of the film while Lower School students posed their own questions during a special meet and greet in the library. Students' questions ranged from "How did you learn about Deaf history?" and "What inspired you to make a documentary about DPN?" to "What is your favorite animal?" and "What is your favorite rock?"
"Deaf President Now" is the story of the movement that resulted in the appointment of Gallaudet University's first Deaf president. The 1988 campus-wide campaign brought national recognition to the rights of people with disabilities and helped to pave the way for the 1990 passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Mr. DiMarco, who attended Lexington as a young child, is actively producing and developing projects that champion Deaf and disability narratives and foster inclusive storytelling. #deafpresidentnow premieres on #AppleTVPlus on May 16, 2025.
