Welcome Back Lexington Families!

I hope you are all well and staying safe. I know this is not the way that we would normally start our school year, but this year has been anything but normal!  The important thing is that we are doing our best to stay safe, and we are ready to face a new beginning and a new 2020-2021 School year.

First, I want to recognize your dedication and your hard work teaching and learning with your child(ren) the past few months and you all found ways to get through a pandemic.     It is so extraordinary to watch Lex students stepping up and using their technology skills to learn.  We are truly living in an historic time.  We are working to provide an engaging and meaningful virtual learning experience for every student.  Please be alert to all communication whether it be Schoology or email or text or our Lexington webpage as we continue to keep in touch with you.

Synchronous learning is online education that happens in real time like video conferencing, Zoom, FaceTime, videophone and so on, whereas asynchronous learning occurs via online platforms without real-time interaction like recorded presentations or videos, email or discussion boards and Schoology interaction and so on.  Lexington will include a blend of both synchronous and asynchronous online learning.   The department supervisors and I continue to work and analyze the online platforms and find ways that work for our students.

Thanks to our teachers who are constantly working with the students via virtual learning.  Teachers are also exploring platforms to find what is best for the class.

I want to thank you for your patience as we explore the best possible options to meet the academic, social, mental, and physical needs of our Lex Community.

Again, thank you for your continued support and input.  Please feel free to contact the department supervisors and/or reach out to me.  I look forward to a unique and wonderful year with your child(ren) regardless of the circumstance!

Stay Well!

Jane Moran
