SUMMARY
This position provides leadership in developing, achieving, and maintaining high quality technology integration into teaching and learning throughout all educational settings to support teachers and instructional assistants in enhancing instruction, improving student performance, and assisting students in becoming technologically savvy. Provides instruction, training, and resources in order to facilitate the use of technology in the classroom which will increase student use and knowledge about technology.
 
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Works with Lower and Upper principals, supervisors and teachers to develop and implement school’s technology plan for the instructional use of computers.
  • Provides workshops for renewal credit and mini-sessions on single topics for the staff of assigned schools.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of technology professional development.
  • Assesses the needs and plans for new technology co-chair committee of assigned schools and communicates these to the appropriate personnel or technology committee.
  • Uses data to design technology-based instructional strategies.
  • Assesses levels of teacher technology understanding, skills, and integration within the classroom.
  • Develops and review instructional technology practices (Zoom, Apps, Google classroom, etc.).
  • Recommends hardware, software, and related resources.
  • Works with Information Technology System Supervisor to secure adequate resources for instructional computing; including E-Rate funding.
  • Works with school administration and faculty to recommend appropriate and relevant grants for implementation of technology related educational program.
  • Develops, implements, and periodically evaluates the school technology in-service plan to identify and develop resource people at every grade level who can provide leadership in working to accomplish the instructional technology plan; to help all teachers to become functionally computer literate and learn their roles in accomplishing the technology plan.
  • Coordinates the activities of outside vendors, consultants, and trainers.
  • Assists faculty and staff in dealing with minor technical issues to maintain a positive attitude about the use of instructional technologies and avoid frustrations and fear of technology by those unfamiliar with them.
  • Monitors and manages device maintenance and safety (safe and secure laptop/device usage and online browsing habits. keeping data and info secure).

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language desired, willingness to learn preferred.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Three years of teaching experience preferred.
  • Currant NYS Teacher Certification.
  • Working knowledge of Office 365, Google Drive, Schoology, NWEA, Newsela, Thinking Map, OTIS (PD), iXL, Kami, ST Math, curriculum, curriculum development and school reform. Knowledge of testing and assessment.
  • Technical knowledge in the fields of computer science, computer education and the broad range of technologies used in educational environments.
  • Knowledge of the theory and practice of instructional technology.
  • Substantial experience working with students and teachers in instructional technology.

SECURITY CLEARANCE

  • Required clearance include medical clearance, fingerprinted by the NYC Department of Education and SCR and SEL clearance.
 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Prolonged periods of walking around in the building and meeting with faculty and staff.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
