Lexington phased into a hybrid model of instruction on February 22, 2021. With the hybrid model, students will attend in-person on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and virtually on Mondays and Fridays to allow deep-cleaning of the building.
Lexington School for the Deaf is committed to providing programs and services consistent with students' Individualized Education Program (IEP). While a full educational experience can be a challenge to provide through remote learning plans, the dedicated faculty and staff are working in collaboration with each other and our families to maintain our home-to-school connection.
We will be posting questions and answers submitted to AskQQSchoolReopeningPlan@lexnyc.org on this section of our website. Please follow the threads under READ MORE to read the questions and responses.
In anticipation of our scheduled family meetings and to provide you with some important facts regarding our reopening, we have prepared one-page summaries of our Full Lexington School Reopening Plan.
Lexington's School Reopening Plan was developed to conform to the guidance provided by the New York State Education Department (NYSED) in their July 2020 document: "Recovering, Rebuilding, and Renewing: The Spirit of New York's Schools - Reopening Guidance." This plan will be revised and updated as needed to adjust to changing public health conditions caused by the COVID-19 virus and all of the new requirements and regulations that may emerge over time. We solicited input and involvement from the families we serve and our staff during the original drafting of our reopening plan. We will rely on continued input from all stakeholders as we move forward in implementing this plan and as we contemplate any additions or modifications.
