Lexington Teams Up To Provide Holiday Toys

On Friday, December 18, 2020, New York State Senator Jessica Ramos, NYS 13th District, and newly-elected NYS 34th Assembly member Jessica González-Rojas joined forces with Together We Can, a local community non-profit, and Lexington School to distribute over 20,000 toys to community-based organizations and schools.
The educational toys, donated by Discovery, Inc. and Horizon Group USA, in partnership with New York Cares, the largest volunteer network in New York City, included a range of STEM-based kits designed to help children develop skills in the core disciplines of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Lexington’s gymnasium served as a temporary warehouse to receive and store three tractor-trailer loads of toys.

Those attending the press conference at Lexington on December 18th included Senator Ramos, Lexington CEO/Superintendent Russell O. West, Together We Can co-founders Shannon Getzel and Jessica Chacha, New York Cares Chief Program Officer David DeLuca and newly-elected NYS 34th Assembly member Jessica González-Rojas. “We appreciate and value the opportunity to partner with Together We Can to bring toys to children during this holiday season, especially when so many members of our local community have been incredibly impacted by the pandemic,” said Lexington CEO/Superintendent West. “I would like to recognize Lexington’s Facilities Management team for their assistance throughout the project and thank Together We Can for their generous donation of almost 800 STEM kits to the school.
