Letter from Russell O. West

Good afternoon, Lexington Family:

Happy Friday! I hope this finds you safe and healthy. In the past three days, the Administrative Council and I have been in constant contact, including daily 9 a.m. online meetings to set the agenda for the day. That being said, we want to provide you a couple of updates:

Communication: It is especially critical at this unprecedented time and we must rely on and listen to all factual information. I am aware that there is a flood of information coming at you from local, state, and federal entities. For that reason, I want to emphasize that all official communications involving the Lexington Organization will always come through and from me as the CEO/Superintendent. In addition, we will post and continually update all factual information and guidelines on the school website. I encourage all members of our community to regularly check-in on the website for facts and updates.

Lexington Organization Closure: At this time, the Lexington building is closed until Wednesday, April 1st.

Distance Learning: The School will commence e-learning program and services on Monday, March 23rd. This is truly an exciting and important time, as we develop some creative approaches to dealing with this unprecedented situation. This week, I had the opportunity to see some of the great things in the making through the Schoology. I congratulate our staff on their work in making this a reality for our students. We will see a true form of 21st Century Learning!

Tele-services: The Agencies have already begun a variety of much needed services via videophone and tele-conference for all of our deaf and hard of hearing clients and patients this week. These services are vital, especially in this unfortunate crisis and I want to thank all the staff who have worked hard at this and for bringing their virtual office into their personal space (home). Their commitment to our clients and patients is evident.

Deep Cleaning: We contracted One Service Maintenance to disinfect the school and offices in the entire building on Wednesday, March 17th. They used cleaning equipment technology called an electrostatic disinfectant machine. This, as I understand it, creates a high level of cleanliness and safety in our building. This company will come back in the building next week to conduct a second round. Because of that, the Lexington building will be off limits to everyone for the entire week – Monday, March 23rd through Friday, March 27th. Our Security Staff and Custodial Staff are only people still coming in the building.

Automatic Data Processing (ADP): All Lexington Employees are to use ADP mobile app to enter their time in ADP daily (M-F). Should you have any questions or issues, please contact Maureen Tillwitz or Jim Vlavianos.

Concerns or Issues: To ensure that we are being responsive to any concerns or questions, please direct your concerns and/or issues to your supervisor. If the question or concern is warranted for a discussion at the 9 a.m. daily online Administrative Council meeting, then we will do so.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC): The CDC recommends the following to help prevent the spread of everyday illness like the common cold or the flu, including:
·         Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water
are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
·         Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
·         Avoid close contact with people who are ill.
·         Stay home when sick.
·         Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash or, if a
tissue is not available, cough or sneeze into your sleeve.
·         Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

Thank you for your time in reading this important e-mail. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. You have a good weekend.

Stay healthy and safe.
