Deaf NYC Panel - Friday, March 22 - 7 pm

The Drs. John S. & Betty J. Schuchman Deaf Documentary Center at Gallaudet University will be hosting a panel discussion with alumni of the Lexington School for the Deaf on Friday, March 22. Doors open at 6 pm and the program begins at 7 pm at the Lexington School for the Deaf, 25-26 75th Street, East Elmhurst, NY.

Dynamic Five Robotic Team Wins Third Place

Lexington's Dynamic Five First Lego League (FLL) robotics team received a third place award for robot design at the NYCFIRST qualifier on January 26th at IS 129. Congratulations to Alex, Jordana, Ragu & Sal! Your coaches, Mrs. Knower and Mrs. Casson, are very proud of you!

Multicultural Festival Week - February 4-8

We will be celebrating the many cultures that are represented by members of our Lexington family. Events include opening and closing ceremonies, a multicultural mural, a multicultural quilt and a cultural fair. Parents are invited to attend a special multicultural food tasting in the cafeteria from 11:30 to 1:05 on Thursday, February 7th. On February 8, students are encouraged to wear colors or clothing that represents their culture.

Smart Schools Investment Plan - Opportunity for Comment & Open Forum (Tuesday, October 23rd - 6:30 - 7:30 pm)

Lexington School for the Deaf is eligible for $85,066 in grant funds through the New York State Smart Schools Investment Plan. Lexington is proposing to use the funds to purchase 20 interactive, flat panel SMART boards. Parents, teachers, community members and other stakeholders are invited to provide feedback on the plan, which will be posted on this website for 30 days. Stakeholders are invited to attend a public forum on Tuesday, October 23rd from 6:30 - 7:30 pm to provide feedback on the plan. Written comments on the plan should be mailed to: Donald A. Registration Open for Fall ASL Classes

Registration is now open for fall classes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Classes start on either September 25 or 26 and run for eight weeks. Fee is $155 plus a $35 workbook that is used for all ASL levels. Registration ends on September 19th.

Students Enter Poetry Contest

This spring, Ms. Kaplan's middle school students entered the Creative Communication poetry contest. Congratulations to Alexandra Q., Alisa T., Jordana L., Julia M., Julianna V., Nikayla P., Ragudeep T., and Salvatore F. for having their poems included in the 2018 anthology, "A Celebration of Poets."
