Lexington Senior Awards Ceremony

Lexington's seniors were recognized at a special ceremony on May 15th. Gigi Zheng was named as valedictorian and Ahsanur Rashid was named as salutatorian. A complete list of awards is included. Congratulations to all of our amazing seniors for their accomplishments!

Lex Reclaims Esther Lustig Trophy

The Lexington BlueJays (boys and girls teams) played a remarkable game of basketball against the Senate/Legislative All-Stars on Tuesday evening, May 21, at the Kipp Tech Valley Middle School in Albany. The BlueJays pulled through for a dramatic 55-52 win. The team is proud to reclaim the trophy, which will reside at Lexington for at least the next year! Thanks to the legislators and staff who made this event happen, with special thanks to Assemblyman Jeffrion Aubry and Assemblyman Michael DenDekker.

Lexington Board selects Russell West as next Superintendent/CEO

Mr. Russell West, currently at Texas School for the Deaf, has been selected as Lexington's next Superintendent/CEO effective July 1, 2019. The Board expresses its deep appreciation to Lexington's retiring Superintendent/CEO, Mr. Donald Galloway, for his outstanding service and contribution to the continued growth, viability and recognition of Lexington and its students.

PARP "Dives into Reading!"

This year's Pick a Reading Partner (PARP) program had an underwater theme with special guest Scuba Diver Danny. Activities during the two-week program included opening and closing ceremonies, phonemic activities, drop-everything-and-read (D.E.A.R.), partner reading, ocean crafts and guest reader, Darren "Dax" Fudenske. A special thanks to the PARP Committee - Leigh, Kristen, Dana & Jen - for a great program!

Lexington Hosts First Career Fair

Lexington's Career Education Department and grades 11A, 11B and 12 hosted Lexington's first career day on Friday, March 29. Eighteen deaf professionals, representing 16 different career clusters, were on hand to meet with students and explain the skills, education and training needed to work in a particular career. Students were asked to participate in a "dream job vlog" and add their career goals to the giant Career Map. The event was attended by students in grades preschool through 12.

Spring ASL Classes Begin April 30th

Lexington's Spring ASL classes will begin on April 30th. Classes are available on Tuesdays or Wednesdays and run for eight weeks. Deadline to register is Monday, April 22nd. Course fee is $155 for general public. To register: http://tinyurl.com/y2oucog5
