Parent Open House - Tuesday, September 26, 2017

Lexington will be hosting a special open house for parents on Tuesday, September 26th from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. The Open House is designed for parents/guardians of deaf children who want to learn more about Lexington's educational and extracurricular programs, as well as community resources for the deaf. The open house will include classroom visits, informational booths and opportunities to speak with Lexington staff.

Students Participate in Summer Youth Employment Program

Sixteen Lexington students participated in the New York City Summer Youth Employment Program. Eight students were assigned to the Henry J. Carter Specialty Hospital and Nursing Facility, four students worked at the Queens Botanical Garden and four students were employed at the New York Presbyterian Hospital - Queens. The program provides a great opportunity for students to experience the world of work and develop important work-ready skills.

Deaf Awareness Week (DAW) Kick-Off - September 18th

This year's DAW theme, in conjunction with the International Week of the Deaf, is "Full Inclusion with Sign Language!" Lexington's Deaf Awareness Committee has been busy this summer putting together our annual Deaf Awareness Week activities. Our celebration will start with a kick-off event on Monday, September 18th. On September 19th & 20th, Sunshine 2.0, a special deaf performance group from Rochester Institute of Technology's National Technical Institute for the Deaf, will be providing workshops and a performance for the students. Summer School 2017

This year's summer school theme was living environments. Students had fun classifying living and non-living things, learning via the Planet Earth documentary series, performing hands-on experiments and taking field trips to zoos, the aquarium and botanical gardens.
